A history of Bold Works
David began his 17-year career with Nike as a university student working on the shop floor. He worked his way to Vice President and General Manager level, with his last position leading the $5b commercial business across 156 countries.
Next, David served as CEO of the Western Bulldogs Football Club. In 2016, the club won its first premiership in 62 years, achieving record results across every off-field metric.
In 2017, David was joined at Bold Works by Paul Faulkner. From Australia to the United States to Asia, Paul has held General Management positions of $500M+ businesses and most recently served as Vice President and General Manager of NIKE South East Asia. Throughout his career, Paul had led marketplace integration and rejuvenation strategies that have created value for brands and retailers alike while also leading at board level- most notably as Chairman of the Australian Sporting Goods Association.

The business has been engaged by iconic Australian Brands and businesses to deliver Bold thinking. The Australian Football League engaged Bold Works to lead and execute the first regular season game to be played outside of Australia / NZ, and become the first sporting code globally to play a regular season match in China- ahead of the NBA, NFL and EPL. The result was the most watched game in AFL history, sold out in under two hours and attracted attendees of whom more than 30% were local Chinese. The endeavour was celebrated as a success by the AFL and the Port Adelaide Football Clubs.
Bold Works has again been engaged by the AFL to make the 2018 game Bigger and Bolder while also being asked to apply Bold thinking across AFLX- the AFL’s newest and most exciting concept with three tournaments across three cities in three days with a totally new fan and broadcast experience- and the AFL licensing program.
Beyond sport, Bold Works has been engaged by partners ranging from software and app development to retail operations and organizational design projects- applying the 40+ years of international experiences collected by David and Paul.
